It was time to leave Venice and head for the Dolomites. We took the water bus back to the Marco Polo Airport, just the reverse of what we did three days ago. It takes just over an hour because its a bus, so it makes a lot of stops.
Once in the parking garage, we have a little difficulty finding our car, just like at home in the States. Onto the highway, plug the city into our Tom-Tom and we see that we have about a 3 1/2 hr. drive. That means over 4 hours with stops.
We stop about halfway at an Autogrill. If you ever find yourself driving on the interstate-like highways in Italy, make sure you eat at one of these places. They're good. They actually have real food.
After a little fooling around in one part of Ponte di Legno and asking questions from a young couple, we find our resort. And, different from many of our previous experiences with RCI, including once in San Francisco, our check-in went smoothly and we were sent to a beautiful, modern, room. Oh yeah, we got there using an ELEVATOR. Isn't it funny what impresses you?
We drove a few blocks over to a small grocery store to get some food and an ATM for some money. The ATM was inside a bank behind locked doors. I just put my debit card into the slot by the door and it unlocked just like in the States. Some things are so easy and some aspects of traveling are getting easier and easier.
Back to our room, we shared some wine and Linda settled into painting while I wrote this stuff.
I'm having trouble inserting photos into this blog. I think the problem is due to weak internet connections. Therefore, for the time being, the photos from both Linda and I will be appearing on our Facebook pages. They will be wonderful and you should check them out. Sorry about that, but we need to be flexible.
