Wednesday, June 17

Linda and I had decided to stay on the ship for the two days in St. Petersburg but, when we got up Linda wanted to try and get on an excursion. Heidi and Doug were going to visit Catherine's summer palace and we decided we wanted to do something too.

We walked over to the Main Stage where everyone was waiting to be called. But, as you might expect, no chance for today. Check back this afternoon for the next day. Later, we did that and signed up for an excursion of the Metro and a market with the theme of seeing how normal Russians live.

We had skipped breakfast so now we had time to eat and then went to the screening room with nice, large, comfy chairs and watched White Nights starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines. We're in Russia therefore we watch movies about Russia. After dinner we watched Russia House with Sean Connery and a young Helen Mirren - yummy.

At lunch, we both worked on the blog and then walked up to the top deck where we had a good view and I read and drank my espresso and Linda worked on a puzzle and drank her tea. That consumed most of the afternoon.

Later we had a drink and then found Heidi and Doug for dinner.

Slow, but comfortable day. Tomorrow we'll get going again.
