Monday, June 15

Today we were "at sea". Linda checked out the activities schedule and found a line dancing lesson -๐Ÿ’ƒ oh joy๐Ÿ˜ง. I surprised her and agreed to go๐Ÿ˜Š. We started with the electric slide. ๐ŸŽผFumble, ๐Ÿ˜Ÿfumble, ๐Ÿ˜Ÿfumble. Is this really as hard as I think it is or is it just me? I found transitions ๐ŸŽถhard. ๐Ÿ‘ฃAlways on the wrong foot.๐Ÿ‘ฃ The room was full and we didn't have much room to work. So, if you really goofed, you ran into someone๐Ÿ˜.

We went on to 3 other dances - easier. ๐Ÿ˜But, ๐ŸŽตI still wasn't really into it.๐Ÿ’ƒ Linda praised me and said many of the others had trouble too. She's nice. ☺️There was at least one dance instructor ๐Ÿ’ƒin the group and I thought she was showing off๐Ÿ˜—. Probably not, just enjoying herself.

Next, we found a culinary demo showing us how to prepare ๐ŸงSeared Duck Breast with braised Red Cabbage.  To our surprise, they always use frozen duck breasts. The side dish was Estonian Herring and Potato Salad. We only got to taste the potato salad, ๐Ÿดnice even though it was quit different.

Later in the afternoon, Linda attended an Acupunture lecture and I joined a group of people interested in flying. ✈️Most were pilots but not all.๐Ÿš€ There were at least 2 like me: never actually controlled an Aircraft but interested in them. ๐ŸšWhen it was
my turn to speak I told them I grew up in the Air Force but only built models and hung them from my bedroom ceiling. Sometimes in the middle of the night one would crash.

There was one couple there who both flew for ✈️Mexicana Airlines. That's how they met. Another guy who had flown for 30 years, told a couple of funny stories that could have ended badly but since they didn't, they were humorous.

The facilitator turned out to be the ๐Ÿšขship's captain. So, after all 20 people had told their stories, the captain said a little about how he flew when he was young and then gravitated to the water. ๐ŸšคAfter that came questions about how the ship functions.⛵️ One interesting point was that the ship's screws are attached to pods that hang down from the hull and can be turned independently. That's why it's so maneuverable.

While Bill was learning about boats I was talking to the acupuncturer. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐ŸปI missed her talk so I went up to her office to see if she was available.  Turns out no one came to her talk so she was delighted to see me.  ๐Ÿ˜Š She decided to do her 'talk' for me.  How did she get into Acupunture?  She had an ear infection that was causing her really bad headaches. ๐Ÿ˜ซThe doc did his usual thing and gave her a antibiotic.  It did not work.  She went back and he gave her, you know what, another antibiotic. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Guess what? It did not work either.  THEN he did an MRI. He called her into his office and said he could not help her, she does not have an infection. " I can't help you."  Her girl friend told her to check out her acupuncturer. Viola decided to give it a try. Voilร ,๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป  no more headaches. Her story is almost as good as mine for becoming a reflexologist.  I told Doug about her, he has had back problems most of his life. He says he was the little kid on the block so he was  the one to get hit the hardest.  He did go see her and has had 2 sessions with good results. The shooting pains down his legs are gone!  Yippee! 2 days and counting๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป.  Turns out Doug had 3 sessions. He couldn't really tell if he felt better because his bed was too hard.  Although, he did say his sharp pains down his leg did not come back.  Progress!

Linda has been taking pictures at 9 and 10 o'clock PM. ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž we open our eyes at 3 o'clock AM and still ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž it is hard to make yourself go to bed when it is still sunny
outside.  18 hours a day in the summer!  ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ the flowers love it! They have a little saying, "6 months of winter( we can't remember the word but it was depressing.), 3 months of anticipation, 3 months of disappointment".

By now it was after 3:00 and time for espresso and tea up on deck 11, the observation deck and where the library is. Linda spotted a jig saw puzzle and it drew her like a magnet.

It was formal night for dining, so we changed into out nice but not FORMAL attire. Even though the brochures and the printed schedules say they expect formal wear with men in tuxes, previous experience has shown us that hardly anyone does. I did wear a tie which is a rarity for me. Linda wore one of her really elegant Indian dress. We looked good.

As we waited for our table, I watched the guy in front of us wearing a Polo shirt - see what I mean. The food was very good: steak for me and Plaice for Linda. The problem was that the atmosphere was hectic. The waiters rushing around delivering and taking away. As we left, we walked around the room to see if the whole room was the same and sure enough it was not just our part. It was all good but the whole scene did not deserve formal wear.
