Monday, June 1

We needed to shop today. Just the ordinary stuff that you would not comment about if we were in the States. But, we're in Holland so its different. This is really cool, or so we hope if you're still reading.

We drove over to the other side of Soest and took my sports jacket that I brought dirty to the cleaners. We looked around for some other stores, but its Monday and many stores are closed. We knew that, but persisted anyway. Also, bought some vodka and some Jillz (apple cider) for Linda.

We have been invited to a birthday party on Sunday and decided to checkout the place by the river to make sure we knew where it was. Nice spot. Tables and benches outside and lots of room inside in case of rain or cold. We're ready.

Then we parked at Albert Heijn and worked our way down the main street for produce, meat, and general stuff. Along the way we stopped for coffee at Prof and talked to our server who remembered us from last year. She even remembered that I wanted an espresso. Impressive.

Back to the house and Bill read in the garden before we cooked some of what we bought: burgers and asparagus wrapped in bacon with some rice. Hmmm, good.

An ordinary but lovely day.
