As we walk out to the car, we notice this:
Its amazing what you can make out of a large piece of wood.
We hit "Home" on the Garmin and head down the road. But, first we stop at an Aldi grocery store to look for some mustard like we were served for dinner. Got some mustard but not the same. Oh well.
Heading down the road we notice some strange stuff.
Then entering a small town, we see this on one of the buildings.
About an hour along country roads through the forest, we make it to a 4 lane highway and start making progress.
Some interesting cars to look at along the way.
Funny looking Ford going and coming.
Better looking VW.
And when we stop for a potty break, Linda finds this.
Makes for an interesting toilet experience.
We make pretty good progress especially on parts of the Autobahn with no speed limit. But, these sections are few and far between. Many Americans think that all the German highways have no speed limits. That has not been our experience for the last 3 years. You may have 10 kilometers of no speed limit and then you get a posted limit of 100 then followed quickly by 80 for no apparent reason. And, just like in the US, some people drive much slower than others. You have to pay attention.
We get off A1 and immediately find a car wash to clean our bug infested vehicle. Home by 7:00 and time for a drink. All of a sudden the weather is back like its supposed to be - in the 70's. It actually was a little bit chilly. Good sleeping weather.
It was an emotionally draining trip but we're glad we did it.
