Friday - Nothing happened. Even though our little trip to England was really great, it was also tiring, especially the bit of hassle we had at the airport. We rested, read, grocery shopped, and spent most of the day inside. It was getting hot.
Saturday - Almost nothing happened. Its hot. Yesterday Linda had made an appointment for both of us to have a pedicure in a shop down the street where we had never been. She went in at 12:00 and I went at 1:00. She also had a manicure. Well, this was different - no swirling water, just clipping of nails and skin in a private, and wonderfully air conditioned room, a reclining chair, and soft music. She used an automated, minature buffer/sander to smooth the nails and skin around the nails. I liked that. As promised, she spent about 20 minutes rubbing my feet and legs - very gently. I would have preferred a little more pressure. My feet came out of this feeling good and smooth and that's the main objective.
The cost, oh the cost. We had not asked beforehand about the price and nothing was posted. Well - the two pedicures were 99 euros and Linda's manicure was an additional 45 euros. Keep in mind, the exchange rate is about $1.30/euro. That was an expensive afternoon that will not be repeated. We wondered if this was considered "high-end" or more normal. The next place we try will be after some investigation.
An espresso at the Proef, which is becoming our favorite expresso place. Their inside dining room is air conditioned and we have met a nice waitress and the young chef. The chef is very friendly and takes care of us. We admired a fancy salad he had made for a couple and he gave Linda a sample bite of it. We talked about places to visit and he suggested Blaricum which is near Laren. As we were leaving, we purchased some pate, olives, and a small amount of tapinade. He gave us the tapinade for free.
Back at the house, we decided it was time to breakout the fan from upstairs. It does make a difference. Earlier Linda had figured out how to translate the 9 page document of instructions that her sax teacher, Peter, had emailed her using Google Chrome. That translate function is great. She emailed it to me and I printed it for her so she could study it more carefully and edit it to smooth out the grammar.
I read and Linda studied her sax instructions. We fixed ground beef, mushrooms, and onions and used the mixture in lettuce wraps.
At about 8:30, still very much light, it was cool enough for me to mow the grass. And after that, I could still sit outside and read some.
We took the fan upstairs to bed with us.
