Monday, August 5

If yesterday was slow, today was slower. The exception was the very beginning. We were out of the house by 7:40 to take Dan and Sue over to Utrecht to catch their bus to Paris. We had plenty of time to wait, verify we were in the right spot and watch two other buses come and go (one headed for Russia and want headed for Berlin). They will be in Paris until Thursday and then returning to Soest.

Linda and I had planned to drive over to Edam to exchange a necklace she bought last year, but decided to return home and eat breakfast first. Then we walked downtown (2 1/2 blocks) and remembered that Mondays were problematic for shopping. Most of the stores, except food stores, were closed. Edam will need to wait until tomorrow. But, we stop at the Verkeley (our favorite bakery) for an espresso for me and a cappuccino and sausage roll for Linda. Then a little grocery shopping - some meat at the butcher and some vegetables at Lidl (grocery store).

Then, we planted ourselves in the garden and read most of the afternoon. With gorgeous weather, this is the thing to do here. Linda cooked an early dinner of beef logs and stir fried veggies and some rice. Good food in the garden.

It was Monday, so I got to watch Top Gear on BBC and then some silly shows and off to bed.
